Part-Time Employment Counsellor and Information/Resource Specialist job at Nokee Kwe (CLOSED)
Job Summary
The Employment Information and Resource Centre Specialist’s main goal is intake, and to ensure clients have safe and efficient access to resources that aid in their transition back to the labour market. Additionally, they will collect resource data and enter this data, as well as client data, into a Ministry sanctioned database. A customer service philosophy is essential, and the ability to deal effectively in a fast-paced work environment.
Essential Job Functions
Intake and assessment
One-to-one career counselling
Development of Employment Action Plans
Meet internal and funder targets as part of a team
Provide information to clients
Manage community partner referrals
Provide information about Nokee Kwe’s Programs/Services and deliver information sessions as required
Facilitate and/or video workshops on a regular scheduled basis
Gather and provide information to clients on community resources
Keep current with the latest community and career development resources
Develop/maintain an information resource database
Follow code of conduct and enforce safety and other IRC relevant policies
Make suggestions for client/employer resources
Assist clients in the resource area to photocopy, scan, and fax client documents
Facilitate basic computer skills for clients, such as creation of an email address
Manually/Electronically collect statistics (e.g., number of drop-in clients, number of workshops and those in attendance, referrals, satisfaction surveys for IRC participants)
Monitor resource center usage and resources (e.g., computers, number of photocopies, phone) in conjunction with the administrative assistant
Maintain client confidentiality
Assist clients in filling out applications (hard copy and electronically) and sending as attachments (including HTML) if required
Be available to clients during operating hours
Conduct follow-up calls with clients and participate in case conferences
Greet people and maintain a welcoming environment
Attend team/staff and AGM meetings as required
Keep current on latest labour market trends and share with clients
Participate in cross-training as required
Educational and Experiential Requirements:
Post-secondary degree/diploma in a related field (e.g., career development, employment counseling, psychology, social work) – preference will be given to those with a Career Development Practitioner Certification
3-5+ years vocational/employment counselling
