To be eligible, youth must:

  • Be between 15 and 30 years of age at the start of the employment. The youth must be 15 years of age at the beginning of the employment period. The youth may be more than 30 years of age at the end of the employment period as long as the youth was 30 at the beginning of the employment period.

  • Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment

  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations

Career Development Counsellor NOC 41321

  • Interview clients to obtain employment history, educational background and career goals

  • Identify barriers to employment and assist clients with such matters as job readiness skills, job search strategies, writing résumés and preparing for job interviews

  • Assess need for assistance such as rehabilitation, financial aid or further training and refer clients to the appropriate services

  • Provide established workers with information and strategies for maintaining a job or moving within an organization, dealing with job dissatisfaction, making mid-career changes and adjusting to workplace transitions

  • Collect labour market information for clients regarding job openings, entry and skill requirements and other occupational information

  • Advise employers on human resource and other employment-related issues

  • May administer and interpret tests designed to determine the interests, aptitudes and abilities of clients

 Educational Assistant NOC 43100

  • Assist new adult learners with integration into the classroom and learning environment

  • Assist learners individually or in small groups with assignments and reinforce learning and retention concepts under the supervision of the LBS coordinator

  • Monitor, report, and record learner progress

  • Assist with curriculum updates and research

  • Work with the literacy team to implement new offerings and/or cultural workshops

  • Assist LBS coordinator in the operation of technical educational equipment, such as audio-visual or electronic equipment

Business Development Officer NOC 41402

  • Design market research questionnaires

  • Conduct surveys on local areas to assess development potential for partnership

  • Coordinate activities with related staff, clients, employers on a variety of employment opportunities, community and business associations

  • Assess business opportunities and develop strategies to improve target related outcomes

  • Respond to enquiries from members of the business community and general public concerning related services

  • Attend Chamber of Commerce and related community meetings

  • Complete and/or review related documentation and agreements

  • Conduct surveys and analyze data on the hiring habits and preferences of new and existing employer partners

  • Evaluate customer service and conduct client/employer follow-ups

  • Conduct outreach and cold calling of employers

  • Provide community presentations

  • Conduct research on competitors and the market place to identify trends to optimize marketing and outreach strategies

  • Analyze promotional and marketing campaigns to identify improvements

  • Prepare reports and present findings as needed

  • Develop and apply E-commerce strategies
