+Positive Voice Program Coordinator - Indigenous Women Specific

Job Summary
Part-time (3 days/week) position- length dependent upon funding (potential for full-time)
Program Objectives:
Increase employment and education readiness:
Support participants in identifying and overcoming barriers to employment and education, while building the skills, knowledge, confidence, and practical tools needed to pursue their goals in a culturally sensitive setting
Build self-confidence and self-esteem:
Provide opportunities for participants to recognize their strengths, develop a positive sense of identity, increase confidence, and see themselves as capable of achieving personal, educational, and employment goalsStrengthen Indigenous identity, culture, and connection:
Create culturally safe opportunities for participants to reconnect with Indigenous culture, traditions, teachings, medicines, land, community, and one another. Cultural activities and knowledge sharing are incorporated as important components of personal growth and healingDevelop leadership and personal capacity:
Encourage participants to develop leadership skills, decision-making abilities, communication skills, and the confidence to advocate for themselves within their families, workplaces, educational institutions, and communitiesCreate supportive relationships and community connections:
Reduce isolation by creating a supportive peer environment where participants can share experiences, build relationships, learn from one another, and develop stronger connections to Indigenous and community resources.Support holistic well-being:
Recognize that employment and education outcomes are influenced by social, emotional, cultural, financial, and practical circumstances. The program provides opportunities for participants to address these broader barriers through activities such as healing circles, cultural activities, food security initiatives, creative expression and access to community supportsProvide opportunities for creative expression and storytelling:
Use storytelling, photography, video, art, creative writing/memes/poetry, cultural activities, and other forms of creative expression to help participants explore and communicate their experiences, strengths, aspirations, and identitiesIncrease access to resources and supports:
Connect participants with employment, education, training, financial, food security, health, community, and other resources that can help them move toward greater independence and stabilityIncrease participation in employment, education, and training:
Support participants in identifying realistic next steps and progressing toward employment, postsecondary education, skills training, apprenticeships, or other meaningful pathways based on their individual goalsCelebrate Indigenous women’s strengths and contributions:
Create a space where Indigenous women and Two-Spirit participants are recognized for their knowledge, resilience, lived experience, skills, and contributions to their families, communities, and workplaces. Through community partnerships, advance participant contributions through community displays/exhibits, presentations, postcards, social media, and more
Overall objective: +Positive Voice takes a holistic, culturally grounded approach to helping Indigenous women and Two-Spirit individuals build confidence, strengthen connections, address barriers, and move toward their personal, educational, employment, and community goals.
Educational and Experiential Requirements:
post –secondary degree/diploma in a related field (e.g., Social Work, Indigenous Studies) – preference will be given to those with related experience and Indigenous cultural knowledge
5+ years related work involving adults
